About The Inn

The Oak Park Inn is located in a rural farming community in Western Wisconsin. Once the private estate of Johns “Harley” Hopkins, the inn is situated on 2.5 acres, with numerous gardens, aged Burr Oaks, and stately Jack Pines. The historic main house is now the lobby and private home of innkeepers, Linda and Steven.

The Carriage House, adjacent to the main house is the location of our two room suites; each suite is pictured on the Property Map Page of this site. Click on the room location for a photo(s) and description of each room(s) amenities.

The Historic Motor Inn guest rooms have two queen beds each, private baths and entrances, microwaves/refrigerators and wireless Internet. Decorating themes are unique to each room and may be viewed on the Property Map page.

We pride ourselves on being environmentally conscious, and attempt to keep our carbon footprint to a minimum. As members of Travel Green Wisconsin and Trip Advisor Green Leader-Gold Level we encourage guests to recycle and reuse, however it is not mandatory.

For those of you interested in visiting the area and are not familiar with the unique geology that surrounds us here in the un-glaciated “Coulee Region” area, a coulee, rather than being just a valley, is a narrow valley between bluffs that gradually narrows and terminates at one end. Sometimes while you are out exploring the coulee region you will find these smaller coulees that act as cold air rivers – especially on the north and east facing bluffs. You will find these out on the roads when it is really hot out, you’ll feel a major drop in temperature in small, shaded, areas – great places to rest for cyclists to cool off.

“What strange forces saved one isolated section along the Upper Mississippi River from the repeated crushing and scouring effects of glaciers during the last two million years? And what pre-Ice Age throwbacks survived here in this unique geologic refuge that holds more Native American effigy mounds, petroglyph caves, strange geological features, and rare species than anywhere in the Midwest? These questions and more are answered in this captivating new documentary. A team of scientists embarks on a journey of exploration to expose both the science and threats behind three unique features of the zone – rare plants and animals, odd geological phenomenon, and striking remnants of a Native American pilgrimage like no other.”
